Christmas gods

Joy to the world
Heaven and nature sing
But my heart has grown so cold
It lost its song, it lost its King

Cheers to all our friends
Spend time with family
We all love falling in love
And try to relive the memories

We lost our first love
We forget to savour Christ
Repeat every tradition we can think of
No time to stop and pray tonight

Faith replaced with simply assume

That I'm entitled to have God pull me through
Put friends first, family first, my own dreams first
Christmas gods so acceptably perverse

Decorate a fourteen-foot tree
Wish for snow so the streets can be white
Devour a dozen home-baked cookies
And sing those classic songs at night

Frustrated by all the effort it takes
Sprain our backs from shoveling snow at night
Complain that we all gained too much weight
And worship Christmas more than Christ

We lost our first love
We forget to savour Christ
Repeat every tradition we can think of
No time to stop and pray tonight

Faith replaced with simply assume

That I'm entitled to have God pull me through
Put friends first, family first, my own dreams first
Christmas gods so acceptably perverse

I'm wearing somebody else's lost dream
To make it the best it's ever been
Don't care about this stuff we're doing
I'm wearing somebody else's lost dream

We lost our first love
We forget to savour Christ
Repeat every tradition we can think of
No time to stop and pray tonight

Faith replaced with simply assume

That I'm entitled to have God pull me through
Put friends first, family first, my own dreams first
Christmas gods so acceptably perverse
