Less than a goddess

When I say a bashful, "Hello," to your beautiful eyes
You need to promise me that you won't wear a disguise
You don't need to be perfect - I don't want you to be
A human you is perfect for a messed up guy like me

To see how you're amazing isn't hard for me to do
But assuming you're a goddess would not be fair to you
We need to let each other know how messed up we are
And grow closer together as we go closer to God

Let me know... your mistakes
Let me know... so my heart breaks
Let me know... you're human
- That you're still only human
Turn my eyes... up to God
To make Him first... in my heart
- 'Cause I need you to be
Less than a goddess to me

Sitting down sipping our hot chocolate
I'm pulled closer to you like you're a strong magnet
Overwhelming eyes and enchanting hair
But making you an idol would not, to you, be fair

Although you're not a statue made of stone or of wood
Am I trying to make you into something more than I should?
I need to thank and praise my God - every single day
For how amazing is He if He made you this way!

Let me know... your mistakes
Let me know... so my heart breaks
Let me know... you're human
- That you're still only human
Turn my eyes... up to God
To make Him first... in my heart
- 'Cause I need you to be
Less than a goddess to me

My mind's eye cannot stop thinking of you
And if it could I do not think I would want it to
You're becoming a core part of my identity
You fuel the passion that brings out the best parts of me

I would not be loving you the way that you deserve
Unless the God in heaven is the first One I serve
I want to love you in a way that's sincere and true
So I need to first love Jesus - more than I love you

Let me know... your mistakes
Let me know... so my heart breaks
Let me know... you're human
- That you're still only human
Turn my eyes... up to God
To make Him first... in my heart
- 'Cause I need you to be
Less than a goddess to me
