Frisbee

God is wildly fun. We usually don't see this trait. One reason is that we see too many boring Christians. And as a boring Christian, I see another reason. I'm too scared to come out from the sidelines.

I'm a control freak - I like to be able to predict things. We can't predict God.

Life's like Frisbee on a windy day. A pass is coming your way. It's level and going straight. You're ready for it. As you're about to catch it, a gust of wind messes with physics. It somehow floats upwards. It swerves to the side.

It feels like God messes with us. We pray about something. We think we see an answer for where we should go, what we should be doing. And sometimes the door may slam in our face. I like to keep my face; I like to keep face.

"It was the wind! I'm really not this terrible!"

We're afraid to look foolish; we want to look talented, smart, and in control of things. But God controls the wind.

And God likes to use the foolish. He shames the wise. We're usually too scared to be foolish - in the world's eyes. So we live boring lives, while God says to us,

"Do you trust me?"
