Not-So-Silent Night

With this virgin birth
Light came down to earth
But people loved the darkness
To hide their wickedness

Underneath the Roman arm
A baby was born in a barn
To be placed in a manger
After the mother cried out in labour

We can look at the sorrow
and anguish before us
But it won't stop us from joining
that heavenly chorus

Though the world may be asleep
we will celebrate our Christ
Let us join the dance and sing
on this not-so-silent night

This is how God loved
The world from above
He gave His only Son
As a gift of salvation

Though questions of His birth were raised
The host of angels sang Him praise
And in that overcrowded town
Shepherds came to Him to bow down

We can look at the suffering
and anguish before us
But still we'll be joining
that heavenly choru

Though the world may be asleep
we will celebrate our Christ
Let us join the dance and sing
on this not-so-silent night

Sleep in a peace that only God gives
Though Herod wants to cut Him into pieces
A holy infant who is not mild
What other baby's life is so wild?
