My co-op job does not start until the end of June; I am looking for a part-time job until then. I have visited a variety of restaurants and retail locations, and I have given my resume to a number of these places. I have called a few of these potential employers back, looking for an interview.
The initial experience of distributing resumes was enjoyable, as I gained a feeling of accomplishment. My confidence grew because the prospect of finding a job appeared to be favourable. However, as time passed without having an interview at any of these locations, my confidence decreased; I felt a sense of failure.
This demoralization led me to consider the possibility that I may not find a part-time job to supplement my co-op job. Before I assumed that I would have a part-time job; afterwards I began to think about what I could do with my time if I did not have a part-time job. I have learned that I have two outcomes: work part-time; make other plans.
